ProgressNow Nevada Launches Online Progressive Organization
ProgressNow Nevada, a new nonpartisan organization established to push
progressive policy agendas, announces the launch of its website --
http://www.progressnownevada.org
The organization combines cutting edge online organizing and
communications with rapid and hard-hitting media response. ProgressNow
Nevada will work to engage citizens from across the state on issues of
immediate concern. The timing couldn't be more perfect as two of
Nevada's congressional delegates, Rep. Dean Heller and Sen. John Ensign,
continue to obstruct major funding to help lift Nevada out of the
current economic crisis.
ProgressNow Nevada's community will become a campaign that never stops,
pressuring public officials to enact good public policy and pushing back
against poorly devised agendas, such as Gov. Jim Gibbons' call to slash
state worker and teacher pay and kill our colleges and schools with his
budget cuts.
In addition to serving as a progressive organization to help push issues
and agendas, ProgressNow Nevada will also serve as a marketing agency
for the entire progressive community, from labor and environmental
groups, to social service providers, educators and activists. The goal
is to build a stronger movement in a state that proved last November it
welcomes progressive solutions.
ProgressNow Nevada is operated by former journalist Erin Neff. Neff
spent the past decade covering politics for both the Las Vegas Sun and
Review-Journal newspapers. She will blog on the new site.
"This website will help keep progressive energy building from the
election," Neff said. "Ultimately a vast progressive community, linked
and organized online, can have sweeping impact on local, state and
national policy."
ProgressNow Nevada is based on a national model of success which began with Progress Now Colorado and is now operating in 11 other states.
